Jessica Kelly

Flutist Jessica Kelly is a Broadway, orchestral, and chamber musician based in New York City. She recently held the flute and piccolo chair in Camelot on Broadway at Lincoln Center. She previously held the flute, piccolo, and alto flute chair in New York City Center's production of Evita and in the first U.S. national tour of Love Never Dies, Andrew Lloyd Webber's sequel to The Phantom of the Opera. She has performed in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular show, and is currently a substitute for the flute, piccolo, and recorder chair for Sweeney Todd on Broadway. She has played with popular groups including Celtic Woman and The Irish Tenors, and has played several recitals with the renowned wind quintet, Sylvan Winds.

In 2014, Jessica co-founded the New York City based flute and guitar ensemble, Redbrick Duo, with classical guitarist Damien Kelly. They have performed in venues such as the American Irish Historical Society in NYC, the E.U. Ambassador’s residence in Washington, D.C., and in various locations in Ireland. In August of 2018, they performed a series of concerts in China through Arts Now China. They have recorded two albums that can be found here and here.

Jessica holds a Master of Music in flute performance from the Manhattan School of Music, and a Bachelor of Music in flute performance from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. Her prominent teachers include Thomas Robertello, Marya Martin, and Catherine Karoly.

Jessica offers flute lessons to students of all ages and abilities. Knowing that all students learn in different ways and at varying paces, she constructs lessons to suit the needs of individual students and helps them create goals toward which they can work. She encourages students to play in studio recitals in order to become more comfortable playing for peers and audiences in general.

She believes it is important to find a balance between having fun playing an instrument while preserving a sense of discipline in order to improve. Lessons are challenging but flexible and are a place where students should be comfortable and not afraid to express themselves in their musical endeavors.
